Today's post is on a tag I made up, called the 'Songs and Books Tag'.

This tag involves different emotions you felt with books that can be linked to this emotion! 

There might already be a tag like this out there, however I constructed the questions myself and if similar it wasn't my intention! 

I think this will be a good way to introduce people to your music and book tastes and to see others!

Book Review : The Grown Up by Gillian Flynn

Hey guys! Today I will be discussing the second book I read for the Book-Tube-A-Thon, and what I thought of it.

Gillian Flynn's novels are something I am not at first a fan of. It takes a deep thought process of the meaning of her books before I decide to like them. This book was no different.

I don't like it right now, but I see myself liking it in the future.

Synopsis: 

A young woman is making a living faking it as a cut-price psychic (with some illegal soft -core sex work on the side). She makes a decent wage mostly by telling people what they want to hear. But then she meets Susan Burke. 

Susan moved to the city one year ago with her husband and 15-year-old Miles. They live in a Victorian house called Carterhook Manor. Susan has become convinced that some malevolent spirit is inhabiting their home. The young woman doesn't believe in exorcism or the supernatural. However when she enters the house for the first time, she begins to feel it too, as if the very house is watching her, waiting, biding its time...

What I liked about this short story? : I didn't like much about this story, but I did like sense of uncertainty that I felt whilst reading the novel - similar to the way I felt during Gone Girl. I also loved Miles, her sociopath of a step son who really just freaked me out. 

What I didn't like about the short story? : I didn't the ending, but I never do with her stories. Her endings are always so abrupt and so unsatisfying. I just didn't like the aura of the book...Gillian is good at matching the aura with her story lines. 

I therefore gave this book a rating of :

3.5 stars out 5

I will probably not re read...but then again I might.

Book Review : Geek Girl 'Head Over Heels' by Holly Smale

Hi guys! This is a post on Holly Smales recent addition to the Geek Girl series, and what I thought of it!

For those that don't know, I love Holly Smale and her writing. She is one of my favourite authors and I always pick up her books as soon as they arrive in Waterstones.

So, it comes to know surprise that I loved this book so much, and why you should read this fabulous series!

I read this book as part of my Day 1 of the Book-Tube-A-Thon Challenge!

What I liked? : I really love Jasper. He's a new character who just seems - from description, very attractive. I loved how thoughtful Harriet was throughout the book and the fact that her dad was a G, literally he let her do so many things. He's awesome. 

What I didn't like? : I didn't like the lack of mention of Nick, but it makes sense. I also really didn't like India's attitude towards Harriet, but I know that if I was in team JINTH I would probably react the same way as her. 

I therefore gave this book a rating of..

 4 stars out of 5! I liked it and would probably re read it.

Book Tube A Thon 2016

Hello my fellow book lovers! 

Today I will be revealing my 'Book Tube A Thon TBR' and explaining what the Book Tube A Thon actually is. 

I took part in this particular reading challenge last year, around this time, and I loved it because it forces you to read in short period of time rather than procrastinate.

So! Without further a due....Here are the challenges this year and what I plan to read;

For this challenge I have chosen to read...

I am reading this because it is a compulsory book in my English syllabus next year, so why not!

The book I will be reading for this challenge is...

As I have mentioned before on here, I didn't like Gone Girl when I initially read it...but now I am starting to love Gone Girl....and I really want to read more of her stuff.

For this challenge, I will be reading...

So I first heard about this book on booktube, but I wasn't that interested...and after promising to read it thousands of times and being threatened by a certain book blogger....I have decided that it is time!

The thing is...I am really put off now by books with an extreme lack of diversity...and I know that this isn't diverse at all, so it just puts me off. 

I'll try though. 

I have picked...

Those that know me will also know that I love David Levithan's writing, hence why I have chosen to read this. This book is the sequel to his book Everyday, which I managed to read in one sitting. 

for this challenge I chose...

This is a play by the writer Tennessee Williams, who I studied this year in English and loved. I then went on to read his other play The Glass Menagerie, which I also loved. Now this play will probably be the decider as to whether I am a fan of Williams as I think three is enough to determine 

if you actually like something. 

For this I shall be reading...

This book I don't know much about, but I do know that it is diverse! yayy

The seventh book I will be reading is...

This is another book I don't know much about, but it has good ratings...so we shall see.

June TBR/ YALC TBR.

I'm back! and I am going to start reading again since exam season is drawing to a close. 

My TBR list will comprise of books I want to read as well as books that will contribute to my YALC TBR list, hence the title of this post. 

As you may have seen in my previous posts, I am aiming to read 100 books this year...but it's June and I have read less than 10 this year. My reasoning is that I can no longer stomach novels with a large lack of diversity. Plus I really wanted to do well in exams so I had to cut reading out. 

I still have this impossible goal of 100 books, and so I now have to try to read close to 20 books each month. Yikes.

But anyway, onto the TBR

1. Novice By Taran Matharu

I met Taran last October at YAShot and instantly thought that he was a very creative (and attractive) author, with the way he spoke about how he got his ideas and the storyline of his book. I am not yet a fan of fantasy, and from what i have heard about this book, I will be after reading it. 

2. A Court of Thornes and Roses by Sarah J Maas.

I have attempted to read this book many times, but I was always put off by the lack of diversity, so I will once again attempt this and if I can't get into it this time, then I am afraid that Sarah J Maas isn't the writer for me. 

3. Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone by JK Rowling 

I am excited about this read, as it is from one of my favourite series EVER. I really want to reread Harry Potter before the cursed child comes out, so this is my reason but really just re reading Harry Potter for the sake of it is a good enough reason. 

4. Winger by Andrew Smith

5. Hacker by Malorie Blackman

6. Look whose back by Timur Vermes

7. Things Fall apart by Chinua Achebe

This is a novel written by a Nigerian novelist, and I really want to read more literature related to my background. 

8. Apple and Rain by Sarah Crossan 

She is a YALC author I will be reading. 

9. Half Bad by Sally Green

Another YALC author I will be reading. 

10. Another Day by David Levithan

OMG HES COMING TO YALC. I am literally in love with this author. 

11. More than this by Patrick Ness

12. Solitaire by Alice Oseman

13. We are all completely beside ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler 

14. Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets by JK Rowling 

15. Harry Potter and the prisoner of azkaban by JK Rowling
